Chris Raschka was awarded the 2012 Caldecott Medal for his wordless picture book, A Ball for Daisy; he has also won the Caldecott Medal for The Hello-Goodbye Window, by Norton Juster and the Caldecott Honor for Yo? Yes!, which he both wrote and illustrated. He is known for his many books for young people, among them Charlie Parker Played Bebop, Happy to be Nappy, by bell hooks, and A Poke in the I, a poetry collection edited by Paul B. Janeczko.
Chris has most recently published Everyone Can Learn to Ride a Bicycle with Schwartz & Wade/Random, which has received four starred reviews. He is now at work on Sun-Ra, A Cosmobiography (Candlewick), which will be published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of jazz musician Sun-Ra’s birth, in 2014.
