Hilary Knight is best known the artist who drew the pictures for Kay Thompson’s Eloise, which was a bestseller and a national obsession when it was published in 1955, and has been in print ever since. He has illustrated more than 50 books and authored nine. Throughout his career, has illustrated for a wide variety of clients, including artwork for magazines, children’s fashion advertisements, greeting cards, record albums, and posters for Broadway musicals, including Gypsy, Irene, Half A Sixpence, Hallelujah Baby! And No, No Nanette.
Over the decades, Knight has lived in Manhattan, which serves as his studio and library. He continues to draw Eloise, Weenie, and Skipperdee, and takes private commissions on a limited basis.
