Julie Winterbottom is the former editor-in-chief of Nickelodeon Magazine, where she spent thirteen years fulfilling her childhood dream of getting paid to dream up pranks. Julie is the co-author of Silly Stories and Fun Folio activity books for Cranium. She was the founding editor of Children’s Television Workshop’s Ghostwriter Magazine, a literacy magazine for middle-grade kids based on an award-winning TV show. Julie also edited Ghostwriter mystery novels and activity books in partnership with Bantam Books. During her years at Scholastic, Julie wrote for the classroom magazines Action, DynaMath, and Math, where she managed to find something funny to say about reading, writing, and arithmetic.

While she has spent most of her career writing and editing for kids, Julie also writes humor for adults and has been published in the Washington Post. She has taught writing to third- and fourth-graders and holds a B.A. in English from Yale University.

Julie latest book, Pranklopedia, an encyclopedic book about pranks, has just been published by Workman, so watch out.
